Recently I visited Bangalore for sight seeing and one of the Tourist attractions I was shown was Vidhan Soudha. I took the half-day site-seeing tours of KTDC(operated by Karnataka State Govt) and Vidhan Soudha [VS] was listed as one of the places, though we were told that tourists are not allowed at this place due to security reasons and hence we have to just get a glimpse of this place from the bus itself while the bus stops here for some time. **About Vidhana Soudha**: VS is the seat of Karnataka’s Legislative assembly, it is a huge beautiful architectural building, we were told was made of Dravidian architectural style. It is a treat to see such a beautiful construction done at that time. We were told by the Tour guide that the building was completed in 1956 and that it just cost some 1.75 crores at that time *(while I am sure its annual maintenance cost itself will be more than this, in the current era)*. **Vikas Soudha**: The Karnataka government has recently also constructed another building next to VS, called Vikas Soudha. It is an annex building, housing some legislative and other government offices. Between the two buildings is a huge life-size seating statue of Mahatma Gandhi. **Others**: Opposite to VS is the High Court building of Karnataka. Both buildings are near famous Cubbon park. We were told that the VS building gets illuminated on Sundays and public holidays(though we could not personally see them). If you are in Bangalore, spare some time to have a distant look of this place.

Vidhan Soudha is one of must visit place in bangalore. It's marvellous and looks even nicer with lights in the evening. Well connected via bus, metro and taxi. It is in the hearth of the city. Go for evening walk. If it rains it looks just awesome due to greenery surrounded by it. Purple Line metro station is right there. Take some time to stand there and feel proud of namma bengaluru.

The Vidhana Soudha in Bangalore, India, is the seat of the bicameral state legislature of Karnataka. It is constructed in a style sometimes described as Mysore Neo-Dravidian, and incorporates elements of Dravidian styles. The construction was completed in 1956. Kengal Hanumanthaiah, who is credited with the conception of the Vidhan Soudha and under whose tenure the construction of Vidhan Soudha was overseen and completed. The foundation stone was laid by the then Prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru and then chief minister K. C. Reddy, on 13 July 1951.It was meant to dwarf the British-built Athara Kacheri (High Court) building.Hanumanthaiah was criticized for the nearly 15 million (equivalent to 1.4 billion or US19 million in 2019) spent to construct the building. The total area covered by Vidhan Soudha is 24 hectares (60 acres) The Vidhana Soudha has four floors above and one floor below ground level and sprawls across an area of 213 by 107 metres (699 by 351 ft). It is the largest Legislative building in India. Its eastern face has a porch with 12 granite columns, 12 metres (40 ft) tall. Leading to the foyer is a flight of stairs with 45 steps, more than 61 metres (200 ft) wide. The central dome, 18 metres (60 ft) in diameter, is crowned by a likeness of the Indian national emblem.

This is a beautiful and well maintained tourist spot. The streets are clean, and we found the crowd to be limited on a Sunday afternoon. The place is great for photos (not scenery) from outside the gate.

Iconic. Not sure if it's worth of the existing politicians. Center of power for the state of Karnataka. Feels amazing even to stand for a photo along with it.
