Part of healthcare industry, I was always aware of the lacunae that exists in India around palliative and end-of-life care. The concept is still not well-understood and even poorly executed in many cities/instances. At Sukino, we realized for the first time, how palliative care should function; given the soft issues and challenging health dynamics of the patient. After availing nursing home service provided by Sukino, we truly understood what trained and professional nursing care means. Their staff is well trained, reliable and most importantly equipped to handle emergencies. The facility at HSR layout is outstanding in terms of trained staff available 24/7, handling of emergencies, and providing comfort to patients. The facility in terms of infrastructure and cleanliness scores really high. However, the administration of the facility is even better. Regular visits by doctors, nursing staff, 24/7 nursing attendant, proactive check on medications, timely nutritious food - assumed the regularity of clockwork! Most importantly, patient's comfort was placed at the highest pedestal. I guess end-of-life care doesn't only mean providing immense comfort and support to the patient but also to patient party. Once our patient was admitted at Sukino, as patient party we felt relieved and received immense support from the team. Right from proactive management of patient's health condition to workshop on how to handle stress while being a care-giver; the support the team extended was exceptional. In my opinion, facilities such as Sukino should be supported to propagate similar standard of care in other cities and towns where palliative care is not well defined. Thanks team Sukino, for the support during the most difficult phase of our life!
