Food is good as compared to other cheap eat options around the university. Menu is fixed according to university rules and they charge Rs. 35 per diet. This mess is especially known for it's rajma chawal which gets prepared on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Need to work on cleanliness a bit but overall it is fine and students love the food.

MCM boys hostel and mess is dedicated to late Mr. Mehr Chand Mahajan (23 December 1889 in Nagrota, Kangra district – 1967) was the third Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of India. Prior to that he was the Prime Minister of Jammu and Kashmir during the reign of Maharaja Hari Singh and played a key role in the accession of J&K to India. He was the Indian National Congress nominee on the Radcliff Commission that defined the boundaries of India and Pakistan.
The quality of food is good.
