It was really good experience. Nice n cold environment. Chavand ( Marathi: चावंड किल्ला) is a hill fortress situated 30 km from the modern-day town of Naryangoan in Junnar Taluka of Pune district in Maharashtra, India. The fort, which rises 1,036 meters (3,399 feet) above sea level, is located in the Sahyadri mountain range. The fort was looted and destroyed by the British upon siege. This is one of the forts known as the 'Famous 5'. Chavaand, Hadsar, Shivneri, Jivdhan and Naneghat form the Famous 5 trek. The fort has remnants of construction that are more than 800 years old. Village of Chavandwadi lies at the base of the fort. Under the rule of Shivaji, this was known as Prasannagad.
Chawand fort is very good trek in junner region. It is easy trek. There are steps from top to bottom.only small part of trek is difficult. But due to railings it becomes easy. Fort have many places to visit Main entrance, pushkarni , many water Cristins, caves, saptmatuka, chamunda devi temple. You will cover all fort in 1.5 hours. Water is available at top. Overall it is good family trek.

Small hike takes only 30-45mins to reach on the fort not much to see but the way till the top of fort is nice , properly maintained by government however the top of fort is not properly maintained there are sign board installed by some ngo but the way might confuse u.
Easy one day trek. You can go by public transport to the base of this fort. It is very near from junnar (shivneri fort). There is only one small hotel at the base. Easy to climb. There are steps half way and railing, so that we can easily climb hard patch. There are 2-3 lakes on the fort. Chavand Devi temple, sadar - where we can stay overnight. Good trek in winter and summer. Good to Trek with family and groups. Many forts can be seen if clear weather. The place is so calm and beautiful. Try to catch small amazing things on the fort.
