Good place to visit and learn about the Anglo-Sikh war. The place is in desperate need of funds from Government as the museum building is in bad shape and the boundary wall has collapsed at various places. There is no provision of cooler or filter for drinking water. Even in this sorry state of the museum, the staff was very helpful and ready to explain the war history.

First Anglo-Sikh War was fought in 1845-46, which resulted in Punjab getting, partially, under control by the British, after the expansion. It is believed that British prepared for the war in 1843 when Lord Ellenborough discussed the possibilities of military occupation of Punjab with the home government. At the time of war, British total number of military troops in Punjab were around 86,023 men with 116 guns, in which, 45,500 men were armed with 98 guns in the hill stations of Subathu and Kasauli, with 60,000 Sikh Soldiers. With more than 10,000 Sikhs killed, British won the battle and effective power went into the hands of Colonel Henry Lawrence which also helped them to occupy Kasur. Maharani Jind Kaur continued as the regent and Raja Lal Singh as servant of Maharaja Duleep Singh. The Punjab Government built Anglo Sikh war memorial at Ferozeshah, Ferozepur at Moga Road. The memorial was built to honor the soldiers who died fighting against British army at Chellianwala on 13 January 1849; Sabhraon on 10 February 1846; Mudki on 18 December 1845; and Ferozeshsh on 21–22 December 1845.

This is a historical place. Have great history behind it but badly managed building. This was built by indian government in the memory of soldiers of first anglo sikh war. That war was fought between east India company and sikh soldiers. Four bettals were fought in that war. The places of the war were Ferozeshah(in history this is known as ferooshehar, in jangnama of shah muhamad he also use name ferooshehar for it), mudki, sabraon, chelyanwala. This memorial is 3 kilometers far from Ferozeshah. The battel of Ferozeshah was fought on 21st December 1846. At that time maharaja Ranjit Singh, the king of Punjab was no more to serve the nation. His sone Dalip singh was not able to handle this critical situation. His mother sham kaur tries his best but she is also not capable to stop east India company. Some says she fails to understand the clever policies of English government and didn't send the war material for their soldiers so they lost the battel.Lal singh and teja singh were the jarnails of sikh army, they take brieb from eglish officer's and help them to win.It doesn't matter what people say, Sher A Punjab Maharaja Ranjit singh was not there and east India company made hold on almost all parts of india, present Pakistan, Bangladesh etc, so it was not easy for small empires to stop English army. If you love to visit historical buildings then this is a good place for you. It will remain open 6 days of week 9 am to 5 pm. You just have to buy tickets that will cost you about rs. 30. Here you can see the cannons, rifels, grenades, swords, spears, pistols and other stuff that were used in that war. You can take a better understanding buy watching posters that shows the scenes of war and photographs of main officers. The detailed history of war is also written on walls. You must read if you were not hurry.
