Great historic place, however the path leading to the site so messy , government needs to ensure that swach barath mission is followed. There is no evidence of cleaniness. The place aslo needs some help from government to restore the building as water seeps in and spoils thr rock edicts. The gentleman who is deployed to guard the place was very helpful to provide some insights about the place.

Located in khalsi, chakrata. A place of historical importance ..needs maintenance as not much can be seen on the rock carvings. The garden outside the rock edicts is maintained well. The gentleman taking care of the monument is very helpful in providing insight about the place. Do not forget to interact with him. Not much option for food if you reach here during lunch time.

I'm giving it three stars for it's historical importance, it can easily get 5 stars if only the management was better the place is not in a good shape it need to be managed properly writing on the rock have faded over time and management has done nothing to save it, rock is also covered with dust and spider webs showing a lack of care given to such important part of our history, Archeology department really needs to do better job at managing places of historical importance.

It is a historical site maintained by Archeological survey of India. Ashoka, was a Indian Emperor of Maurya Danasty who ruled India from 262-232 BC.And is known for spreading Buddhism in Asia. There are total 14 major Ashokan Rock Edicts and out of which this one is the only edict in North India. The edict is Prakrit and script Brahmi.

There is a rock with something written on it from Ashoka Era. One can visit, click pics and spend some 15 mins here. Situated at the Yamuna River bank, with great scenic beauty.
