One of the earliest observatory in India which dates back to more than 100 years. However the visiting is only allowed to Museum and was disappointed to realise the same as we were excited to have a view of the sky in the night. A nice scenic relaxing place away from all sound and disturbance to calm ourselves surrounding by big and beautiful trees

An amazing place. A definite must go if you are in Kodai. The secrets of the universe unviel themselves here. Photography is strictly prohibited inside the museum.

Place is awesome. You will be able to enjoy if you give time to each exhibit. the person who shows the cery first exhibit is fun. It is an institute so please don't expect parking lots for visitors. 1/3/2021

Rs. 20 entry fee. Mostly contains frames explaining very complicated scientific facts about space that common people cannot understand. Only interesting thing is the real time visual of Sun and it's dark spots explained by a person. Other than that nothing much entertaining for common people. But science lovers can gain much from these photo frames. If there are some telescopes and few mechanical instruments that people can use it could be much better. Just a humble opinion.

There are very few old instruments used before 100 years but not arranged properly or explained. Not worthy at all. You can see many photos and charts which you can learn from the internet anyway. They don't let your enter the observatory

The Kodaikanal Observatory is situated on the tip of Palani range hills. It features all the modern imaging apparatus and is the must-visit location to observe the celestial events. Visitors can see a 20 cm refractor here that helps in comet observations and to view relevant occultation event. The Observatory also boasts a famous Astronomy museum on campus for the tourists. The displays here are chiefly pictorial, backed by a couple of models. Visitors can also see the live solar image and the Fraunhofer spectrum while museum touring.
