Located at Rafi Ahmed Kidwai Rd, Esplanade, Taltala, Kolkata, West Bengal 700016, Afreen is a Mughlai cuisine restaurant. The food is tasty, ambience is average and service is mediocre. Try the murg achari kabab, murg musallam, laccha paratha, chicken biryani, firni and tandoori tea. Chinese food is best avoided.

Last week while attending a Food Fair in the Wellesley area, we happened to cross this restaurant. On our way back we decided to give this restaurant a try. Well, ordinarily before trying any restaurant, I do a bit research/read reviews, but because it was spontaneous, I didn't have time to check on this place. Having said that, I was not expecting much from this restaurant, but let me tell you, I was pleasantly surprised. We ordered Tandoori Chicken, Chicken Biriyani, Firni, Mixed Raita and Masala Cold drink. The Biriyani was quite delicious. The masala from the meat was blended perfectly with the rice. Even the Tandoori Chicken , to my amazement was juicy and succulent. The Raita was a little too watery for my tastebuds. Don't have a lot to say about the Firni, it just did it's job of being a dessert. Minus points for messing up the drink where the cola had too much of chaat masala- we couldn't finish half of it!! The interiors were conservative. The staff a little laid back. Other than that, worth giving it a try!!
