Krishna Raja Sagara, also popularly known as KRS, is a lake and the dam that creates it. The Dam also holds the honour of being the first irrigation dam in India. There is an ornamental garden, Brindavan Gardens, attached to the dam that has a botanical park, with fountains, as well as boat rides beneath the dam. There is a guest house, a state run hotel, Hotel Mayura Kauvery KRS and a four-star luxury heritage hotel Royal Orchid for tourists.
This is located inside the KRS . Park is very well maintained and there are many water fountain which is very good for photo shoot .
Beautiful place... You can use the government bus facility to reach here from Mysore city bus stand.. Bus number 303.. From KRS you can catch same bus to reach Mysore city bus stand.. Sound and light show is good which starts at 6.45pm.. Tourists are spoiling the beauty of park by throwing plastic here..
Garden is a good place to hangout in the evening. Don't expect too much from musical fountain.
Nice, venue most of the film songs are shot there. The Krishna Raja Sagara Dam (KRS Dam) was built across river Kaveri, the life giving river for the Mysore and Mandya districts, in 1924. Apart from being the main source of water for irrigation in the most fertile Mysore and Mandya, the reservoir is the main source of drinking water for all of Mysore city and almost the whole of Bangalore city, the capital of the state of Karnataka. The water released from this dam is further used as an important source of water in the state of Tamil Nadu, which has its own Mettur dam in the Salem district. The dam is named for the then ruler of the Mysore Kingdom, Krishnaraja Wodeyar IV. The Chief Engineer, Sir M. Vishveswaraya engineered the construction of the dam during the Wadeyar kings regime in 1932.
Very beautiful place for tour. tickets are given for entry at entrance gate for boating another ticket is given there. Pleasant place its beauty increases at sunset time when lighting starts with fawwara of water. Full of greenery huge parking ground here mostly visitor comes after Eid festival to spend there time with family.
