St Aloysius College was built in 1882. The southern wing of the building formed the Chapel as a place of prayer for students. The Chapel built in 1885 by Rev Father Joseph Willy, is a replica of world renowned Sistine Chapel at Rome. The main part of this chapel is a large hall, which is called the nave. On either side of the nave are the two aisles. The raised platform is called sanctuary. Touching the wall of the sanctuary is the main alter. The paintings on the ceiling are canvases, and on the walls, are frescoes. While every painting has its own special appeal, some have a special significance. The Chapel is primarily a place of prayer where people can commune with God. The paintings which adorn it are primarily meant to help us to pray. Their artistic value can be best appreciated in an atmosphere of prayerful silence.

Within the campus, there is this chapel, museum, school and college. You will be mesmerized looking at the clean and colorful art work. Can spend atleast 1/2 hour for just a skim of the place. If you are into arts then you'll spend couple of hours praising the paintings, scriptures, details enscribed on them and to seek blessings.

Beautiful must visit in Mangalore if you like seeing religious places or history of architecture fans it's a must see. It's located on top, guest parking is provided. The architecture of the outer building is great The inside of the chapel is where it's beauty resides. The canvas paintings on the walls and ceilings takes you back ages Do recommend visiting.

The vibe in the chapel was so good it kinda changed my perspective towards life. I thought I need to love myself more and live my life as I want. Would 100% recommend. I was in(and am still...) a bad place and after going in there it felt better.

The Aloyseum is a small museum that's part of the St Aloysius Chapel and educational complex. The museum has an eclectic mix of items of religious art, culture, history, natural history and more. The items in the museum are high quality, especially the collection of animal skeletons. The downside is that only a few of the exhibits have any labels and descriptions, so the whole place just feels like a items collected together, albeit all good quality. The price of entry is basically pocket change, so 1 for that. Fine if combined with a visit to St Aloysius Chapel, but otherwise don't go out of the way to see it.
