Hasta Shilpa Heritage Village is a not for profit, open-air heritage museum and cultural complex located in the university town of Manipal, Southern Karnataka, INDIA. Manipal is an ideal gateway to the rich biodiversity of the Western Ghats, as well as the pristine coastal stretches of Karnataka and Kerala. Located on the shores of the Manipal Lake within easy access of the university, the Heritage Village offers several walks and tours around its site at a nominal price, for the diverse public which visits it. It also offers specially curated tours for groups, as well as tours on heritage conservation. The Heritage Village is spread on 6 acres of land and includes around 30 heritage houses, remnants of regal structures and shrines. Several of these are centuries old and all are built in the vernacular South Indian tradition. By mid November 2017, the new Children's Museum of Toys and Playthings in the Hasta Shilpa Heritage House will also be open to the public. Periodic art workshops, contemporary performances and film-screenings make the Heritage Village into a living cultural complex.
