PCI began operations in India in 1997 and maintains a diverse portfolio, working in both rural and urban settings in the areas of integrated health and community development with programs focusing on low-income, vulnerable and hard-to-reach populations, especially women of reproductive age and children. Founded in 1961, Project Concern International (PCI) is an international non-profit organization dedicated to promoting community health and integrated development worldwide. With U.S. offices in San Diego, CA, and Washington, DC, PCI currently operates in 16 countries in Asia, Africa, and the Americas. Sectoral focus areas include: health and nutrition; water and sanitation; food and livelihood security; and disaster risk management. PCI employs over 600 staff (over 95% of whom are local nationals based in the field) who, together with thousands of volunteers, serve over 5.9 million people annually.
