The Parachute Regiment (Special Forces) was the brain child of Lt Col Megh Singh who created the "Meghdoot Force" in 1965. This was later merged with "The Parachute Regiment" in 1966 to form the first Commando Battalion called the 9 Para Commando Battalion and then in 1967, 10 Para Commando Battalion. This was the first time ever Commando Battalion were raised and then in 2001 all Commando Battalions were re-desginated as Special Forces Battalion due to change in the mandate. Today the Parachute Regiment (Special Forces) is the punch line of the Indian Armed Forces along with other specialised units from the Indian Navy (Marine Commandos) and Indian Air Force (Garuds). The Parachute Regiment Special Forces also contribute to many other specialised units like National Security Guards and Special Group. This is a closed group is dedicated to all those brave souls who have laid down their life for the man standing next to him, his country and to all those who have served in Para (Special Forces) of The Parachute Regiment.
