Vistrit Gyan is a social endeavor by Anupam Garg, an IIT Kanpur Computer graduate and MBA (Finance) with more than 3 decades long experience in the IT/Software space. There are estimated around 40 million blinds in the world – majority of them living under extreme economic and social deprivation. While the learning of Maths and Science may provide them the right platform towards a vocational or professional career, a lack in this regard robs them of this opportunity. Unfortunately, learning Maths and Science had been extremely challenging for these students – not any less for the teachers who teaches them. Hence, he aims to improve the education for such blind students through suitably designed learning kits, learning aids, and teaching aids. Recently, Anupam Garg has designed “GEOMKIT”, a new Tactile Geometry Kit (Patented) and “Braille LINEVIEW Slate”, a Direct Braille Slate (Patent published under PCT) suitable to do Maths for blinds/low-vision students. Both have been subjected to field trials by various organizations/trusts working for blinds and low-vision/ visually impaired people. While GEOMKIT is presently under production, Braille LINEVIEW Slate is undergoing further research – funded by the Department of Science & Industrial Research (DSIR) Government of India, with R&D support being provided by IIT Kanpur.
