We stayed in Ravangla to explore Tendong Hill. We started our journey from Ravangla around 6am and enjoyed the sunrise and the beauty of Kanchenjungha throughout our journey till Damthang bazaar. From here you need to start your trek for Tendong Hill and if you are lucky enough then you will get a friend like Tendua (local dog) to guide you till the hill top. There is a footbridge located on the road itself. You need to cross that bridge and you are on your way for tendong hill trek. Even from the bridge the view was mesmerizing. As being late winter, temperature was not freezing cold. It was around 4C when we started our trek around 7am. We were a team of 4 members and not able to find out even a single person to and fro tendong hilltop. It's true that after entering into the jungle the view of Kanchenjungha and other himalayan range will be completely vanished until and unless you reach to the top. But if you are a nature lover and love to enjoy the calm breeze and chirping sounds of birds , then Tendong hill is no doubt a place for you. Actually you will have to climb two hills to reach to the Tendong Hilltop. It takes around 3.5 hours to reach to the top as we took few breaks to enjoy the beauty of jungle. At the top we got some snow and the view of entire himalayan range just stunned us. We were fortunately able to point out the summit flag in Pandim from here with the help of our binocular. But the only disappointing thing was that we were not able to climb up the Watch Tower as it was locked and due to unbearable climate at the night no body was living at the top. The entire experience was so thrilling and to be remembered for rest of the life for it's serene beauty and mermerizing view.

It’s a very short hiking place passing through the thick forest.
It was a 3 hours trek and we loved every bit of it. We were 4 friends travelling to South Sikkim on our bikes. Reaching the top wasn't that scenic as expected, but yes it was peaceful and calm and you could just sit there for a while and get lost in those cool breezy winds. The beautiful flower garden will definitely draw your attention. My advice would be "just spend a few mins out there when you reach the top".

Tendong Hill is a little far from Namchi and close to Damthang (where the road forks between Gangtok and Ravangla). The road and the ride to the top of this hill are spectacular, especially if there're clouds - it gets spookily foggy and it's to hard to see even 10 feet ahead. The road surface is missing in most parts because of rains and landslides, so it's a mild adventure going around and up. The forest on the hills and the trees around the road look very eerie, especially when some light penetrates the dense fog. But when the fog clears, the whole area is lush green and feels very fresh. There are a lot of small temples & shrines on the way and also a lot of prayer flags. You can also see cardamom plants all over the place for which this area is famous.
