The Church is situated in Thiruvalla and is one of the most beautiful churches I have ever seen. It is a mesmerizing church with beautiful architecture. The Church is very huge and spacious. It has an ample amount of space outside too. It is even more special for me as I had received my first Holy Communion here. Holy mass here is divine. Highly recommended.

A church with an interesting architecture that blends Kerala architecture and typical church aesthetics. The church also has a banquet hall and has ample space.

After the split between the Orthodox faction of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church and the group that united with the Catholic church, the Catholic group were in need of places of worship. Hence, after overcoming many obstacles, a chapel was constructed. Infant Mary’s Minor Seminary was started on 8 September 1931 and a temporary chapel came into existence near the seminary. After the erection of the Tiruvalla diocese in 1932, the chapel was upgraded to St. John's Cathedral. In 1943 a new church (third one) was constructed on the same place where the first chapel existed. In response to the call of the Second Vatican Council to regain the cultural heritage of the eastern churches, Bishop Mar Athanasios invited Laurie Baker to design and build a new cathedral in the tradition and culture of Kerala. The circular structure of the church had 12 pillars symbolising the 12 apostles of Christ. There were no pillars in the middle, offering a clear view inside. This cathedral was blessed on 28 December 1972. By the end of the 1990s, the need for the construction of a new cathedral was felt as the old cathedral was on the verge of collapse because its roof was built with wood. The pillars could not bear the heavy load. The current cathedral was constructed on the same place where the third Cathedral (1943) was built, which is a few metres away. This was consecrated in September 2004.

Church belonging to Malankara catholic congregation ,an independent rite church under the Pope. Malankara catholic Church was established by his grace bishop Mar Ivanios . His grace Mar ivanios was a brilliant scholar, an MA from presidency College Madras obtained during late nineteenth century at a time when average priests had only school education . A person above comparison,he was a true visionary with superior intellect than his contemporaries. Schism was prevalent among orthodox Syrian Christians in those days ,which unfortunately continued long . Over the course of time his grace got disenchanted with this state of affairs which lead to establishment of Malankara catholic Church by him. Malankara rite follow Syrian liturgy and vestments and keeps the Malankara tradition intact. This is a prominent church situated in the heart of the city. It is also known as "koodarapally" in local parlance since the structure resembles a tower (koodaram). Designed by none other than the celebrated Laurie Baker it is an architectural marvel bears testimony of the architectural genius. They have a spacious auditorium within the church campus which could host big events . Major church under the archdiocese of Thiruvalla.
