"Niranam Church is a parish under the Niranam diocese of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church. This church was founded by St. Thomas, the Apostle of Jesus Christ, in AD 54. Among the attractions at the church are a huge Cross made of granite, relics of St. Thomas, remnants of the old church, the golden cross etc"

It is claimed that this church was founded by St.Thomas, one of Christ's twelve apostles sometime after his arrival in 52 AD. This makes it the oldest church complex in India. But the current structure is new as this church has been rebuilt many times over the centuries. Two huge stone crosses survive from the past, with inscriptions which haven't been deciphered by historians to this date.
