Must visit. The stone arch is a fabulous thing to look at, and a true reminder of time. Geologists estimate this to be as old as 1500 Million years! Good that people aren’t allowed to touch or climb these rocks. Earlier that was allowed, but now it’s cordoned do people can’t enter.

Mythology related to the arch, linked to the famous Tirumala hills temple of Shri Venkateswwra, has three versions. According to one version, the arch resembles the hood of a serpent, a conch (Shank) and a duscus (chakra) – all symbols of worship in and considered to be the source of the Idol of Shri Venkateswwra or Shri Balaji at the Tirumala hill temple. The second version is that the main deity in the Tirumala temple is of the same height as the height of the arch.

Tirumala Eparchaean Unconformity Tirumala is not just a pilgrimage spot, but an abode of natural wonders along the Lord there. Tirumala is a unique spot on this earth and we can find how it's so amazing geographic location when we try to find the story of Lord Venkatesha and the place. Tirumala Eparchaean Unconformity, a notified National Geo-heritage Monument is a major discontinuity of stratigraphic significance that represents a period of remarkable serenity in the geological history of the earth i.e. sudden changes and discontinuity in the rock layers in earth;s crust. It is seen at the steep natural slopes, road scars and ravines in the Tirupati – Tirumala Ghat road in Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh, India. In 2001, the Geological Survey of India (GSI) declared the unconformity to be one of the 26 “Geological Monuments of India". Seshachala', 'Venkatachala, are the two of the many names for the tirumala hill. The best attractions in these areas are many, even though the best to see is the Natural arch formation, which is called SilaThoranam, which is situated inside Tirumala Sri Venkateshewara Rock garden.
