Warangal Fort is located in Warangal District, Telangana, India. It was the capital city of Kakatiyas and Musunuri Nayakas. It appears to have existed since at least the 12th century when it was the capital of the Kakatiya dynasty. The fort has four ornamental gates, known as Kakatiya Kala Thoranam, that originally formed the entrances to a now ruined great Shiva temple. The Kakatiyan arch has been adopted and officially incorporated into the emblem of Telangana after the state bifurcation. The fort is in the tentative list of UNESCO World Heritage sites.

Ruins of ancient fort are worth exploring. Keep check on your expectations as it is not a huge fort or a museum, it's kind of a garden which is decorated with the ruins of Kakatiya dynasty's architectural leftovers and there is nothing much to do other than observing the monuments over there (such as light/musical history show). Local vendors and unorganized parking facilities will/may dampen your fun and excitement. Best time to visit - before Sun set, 1hr is good enough to explore the place.

Heritage site which reminds us about how the kingdom of Kakatias was. I hope Govt will involve more effectively to restore the Fort wall and make it a picnic spot/park. Had a peaceful time...

Wonderful place. The location is well maintained. Good display of Kakatiya art and carvings. However the approach and surroundings are extremely congested.

It is a misnomer to call only ruins a fort. There must have been a glorious fort at some point, but what remains is just ruins and only remnants of a what appears a glorious past. The ruins though are an intricate exhibition of ancient artisans' competence and imagination.
