I bought a rug from Kanu Carpet Nov 2019 while travelling with a tour group. First l was not interested but when the team encouraged you to walk over them, that changed my mind. The idea of commissioning an Indian rug, handmade to hand down was very exciting to me. The size l wanted was not available, so I was to receive my rug when back at home in Australia via courier. I was a tad concerned because everyone has an opinion about the Indian people. I received my rug 2-3 months later and being very excited at first, l became very disappointed once l walked over it. It felt thinner than the cheap rug l had in another room. I can’t tell if it’s wool either. There is no branding on the back of the rug. No mention of origin, material, knot count, nothing. So how do l know this rug is Indian, handmade and made of New Zealand wool like they said it would be...l don’t. After contact, they sent an email certificate. A certificate can state anything. I tell myself l paid no more for a handmade, pure wool rug if l bought one from a local store. If you were to buy a rug from Kanu Carpet, buy one already made in store, and make sure it’s branded...or buy an Indian rug at home.
