Being an Indian, I always feel proud visiting army, naval or air force museums. I found this opportunity perfect to venture out. It is situated in the air force campus on the road to cherrapunji. It has nice models (now defunct) of air crafts, weapons & photos to describe history of the air command. This meuseum has many unique items that cannot be found in any other meuseum. This meuseum is total based on air force. This place is awesome for people like me who love science fiction and air force really like the equipment , historical equipments and other things in the meusuem.

The Air Force Museum in Shillong is scrupulously maintained and lies inside the campus of the Eastern High Command. This place is very near the national highway 106 and can be seen from the road. The displays kept inside the Indian Air Force Museum in Shillong are a testimony to the dedication and power of the IAF. The museum basically hosts aircraft models, actual machines and technology demonstrations used by the IAF Eastern Command. If you are carrying bags then they will be searched before you are allowed to enter the museum. You also have to provide a valid ID card (PAN/ Aadhar/ Voter ID) before you can enter the museum. This is an IAF museum and the management is quite strict about its rules.
Amazing experience. Various aircrafts are available for display..
Maintenance of Meuseam is high standard. Portrayal of north eastern culture, life and their musical instruments. Picture of wars with pakistan aircraft. A place which you proud of our country and Air Force. Campus I entry is restricted you must have valid Aadhar card, Pan card for entry. Great place to visit for Shillong tour
it's a library of knowledge
No simulator, only fake toy plane. Though ticket is very cheap.
A nice museum, but not much to do around over here. It would have been great if they gave a guided tour. It's still one of the few places to visit at Shillong, so it's a must visit if you have the time.
I had wonderful experience. The location of the museum is mesmerising. As I entered the museum my perspective of our defence system has changed totally. My knowledge on the History of Indian Air Force have expanded. The museum is very well maintained. It displays from old planes to modern fighter jets, from old shot guns to modern weaponry. It even displays the culture of North East India. I would suggest that whenever someone visits Shillong should visit this museum
