Such a beautiful place to spend time.. Home for a vast variety of butterflies.. If ready, prefer walking through this lush greenery rather than taking jeeps ...

Aralam wildlife sanctuary is the only one wild life sanctuary in kannur. 60-70 km far from kannur city and there is farm adjacent to Aralam wild life sanctuary.December is the best time to visit because in these period you get chance to see butterfly migration. There is information centre about wildlife by forest departmentAaralam, a sanctuary located at the extreme end of north Kerala, probably the last sanctuary towards the northern side of the state. Due to specifics of the geography and vegetation it breeds close to 327 species of butterflies among the 1500 odd species you find in India and 17000 Species world wide. Heaven on earth, lush green, clean water ,fresh air and untouched by human public.Good place for nature lovers. This site is located interior and little away from city side. Nature is well protected and preserved. Travel inside sanctuary is in jeep. Its a bit hectic one but still enjoyed ride into the deep forest. Good spots to take photos. Do not visit during rainy season because its heavy risk. Beware of leechs too. Water fall was a fantastic site. Very pure and crystal clear water.....

Completely untouched forest. On our safari 5 forest Dept guys had to come and clear a fallen tree on the route which took nearly an hour. Lots of trees had fallen due to heavy rains. We even saw a sambar deer body which was recently killed by a big cat not sure which one. Watchtower view is amazing. Small trek to the stream was the highlight of the safari. It's a half an hour trek, very slippery but worth it. Small straems throughout the safari route are wonderful to watch. Would recommend it for nature lovers. Get the guide named Biju, he is very knowledgeable.

Its full of wonderful tall dense forest..good for trekking. its a quiet forest , if you want to see falls and bridge its 8 km from entry gate you can pay 2000 rs for a Jeep for ride , personal vehicle dosnt go inside , i choose to track for 5 km till watch tower , no drinking water and food available once you inside so keep that with you, if you going with gang it can be fun , else a peaceful forest.
