Many believe Kolkata as the origin of the Desi Chinese culture, primarily through the Chinese immigrant settlements roughly around 250 years ago. So when a famous Chinese restaurant from Kolkata spreads its wings to Namma Bangalore I had to try it out. Thanks Abhishek @theunclinchedblog whose post through which I came to know about @chowman_kolkata entering Bangalore. Went with suggested recommendations, and ordered a Chowman Special Fried Rice & a spicy Orange chicken. Let me start by saying that I liked the meal, but maybe did not order the right dishes. The Spicy Orange Chicken is a new entrant to the desi Chinese scene. It’s is a perfect example of the Chinese-American cuisine, perfected by Panda Express about 30 years ago. Am glad that Chowman has introduced that and it was absolutely spot on. Slightly sweet, a bit sour, and a mild spicy aftertaste, my palate was transported back to my meals at the Panda Express stations in my US office cafeteria. For newbies, let me put it this way, if you are a fan of American chopsuey, you are gonna love the Orange Chicken here at Chowman. That being said, am not a big advocate of anything sweet, especially in my main meal, so I might skip to other spicy variants from the menu. The Chowman special fried rice was a beautiful mixed rice dish with chicken & prawns, and a mild sweetness coming from bell pepper cubes. The prawns weren’t coated & batter fried, and were added as it is, needed a little more seasoning & cooking too. As mentioned in the description I expected the fried rice to be wrapped in an egg parcel, like in a Nasi Goreng Pattaya, but there was just this thin omelette on the top. A little disappointed, but maybe the egg wrap is available & possible in a dine in. Overall a good meal, not a great one, but this place definitely deserves another try and will keep you all posted on my second try, soon...

A very surprising pleasant experience because this place is high on taste and quality...not your typical Chinese where the spice level is so high that you don't enjoy the food. We ordered through Zomato and must say that really enjoyed our meal fish, chicken, pork, rice(lots of vegetables)momos(full of chicken)..would highly recommend.Hope they keep the quality consistent

DON'T EAT HERE! THIRD CLASS PLACE!!! I ordered Pan fried Noodles and Schezwan fried rice. Noodles were overfried and burnt! Rice was pathetic! It was not made in Chinese style, i beleive they added little Schezwan and more red chilly powder in masala rice and served! It was too spicy! They don't have proper cook who can make good Chinese food! Some guy who dont even know C of chinese has prepared with typical indian masala. I wish i could provide negative rating, no option and ended with 1!!!

The best Chinese Restaurant of Kolkata now in Bangalore.. looking forward to have some more authentic Chinese cuisine from Chowman in Whitefield.. I ordered Chilli Pork and Noodles last time and it was amazing food for me..

I ordered thru swiggy and this is the last time i ever will. Pathetic food, filled with oil and spice right to the head. Guess the chef was in mood to leave early and gave more of batter rather than the chicken for a cost of 280rs. Please don't order from this place.
