Debt Recovery Tribunal (DRT) is a Tribunal which is established under 'The Recovery of debts due to Banks and Financial Institutions Act, 1993' which exercises the jurisdiction, powers and authority to entertain and decide applications from the banks and financial institutions for recovery of debts due to such banks and financial institutions. Applications can be filed in DRT only where the amount of debt due to the Banks or financial institutions exceeds Rupees Twenty Lakhs. The DRT consists of only one person who is called the Presiding officer of the DRT. The Debt Recovery Tribunal in Delhi is situated in the Jeevan Tara Building at Parliament Street, Janpath, Connaught Place. There are three DRTs in Delhi. All the three DRTs are housed on the 4th floor in the same building. The place is always very busy and crowded hustling with activities and Advocates and other related parties. It also has a canteen serving only limited items.

People coming here are already in pain and that increase by being here for some time. Fisrt parking is an issue so reach early. Once you are through with that comes locating the place and there after lift. Very small and slow. If possible better to avoid. It is very difficult to be there in summers. Since fans at reception does not work. Only AC works in common sitting area of lawyers. Courtrooms have limited capacity and if you are outside you even do not get fan. Windows can not be opened. Canteen is also very small and serves limited options.

Parking is a big problem. Avoid the lift, its slower than a snail. The Tribunal is clean and has a canteen. DRT is where all SARFAESI/ bank loan matters are heard as the jurisdiction of Courts have now been substantially taken away
