Amazing place. Have been there with my college mates and its memorable. Many things to learn about our culture and also toys and puppets. Really enjoyed a lot. Make sure you check with the concerned authorities before you reach there. Also locating the place is tricky

Awesome place... A private home, where the family arranges a free yearly exhibition of dolls during Dussehra time. This event has been held for the past 23 years. Each and every one of the dolls has been commissioned and collected by Anupama Hoskere, the creator of Dhaatu along with her husband Vidyashankar, who's played a supportive role in all the activities of Dhaatu. Dhaatu has a collection of over 15000 dolls of varying sizes and design. The arrangement of scenes from Mahabharat and Ramayana will spark off memories, and children become curious to hear the whole story. I loved the huge arrangement of the battle scene from Mahabharat, with depiction of Geetopadesha by Lord Shri Krishna to Arjuna, and on the other end Chakravyuha, and Ghatotkach decimating Ravana's army... There is a daily puppet show in the evening, during Dussehra time. Children love it! There is parking around the venue on the roadside itself. You should be able to find parking close by in the lanes. The owners are extremely humble and approachable (even with all the crowd at their home!), and I came to know a lot about the history of Dhaatu from Vidyashankarji. Dhaatu also hosts weekend classes called Puppet Paathshaala for children, where they learn the art of story-telling and puppetry at a very nominal rate. It takes around 5-7 years (as far as I remember) for a child to master the art of puppetry, and they have trained a lot of children in this rare art.

Beautiful! It had three generations of collection of dolls, not only collection but the concepts and stories are accordingly arranged- like ramayana, Mahabharata. You can also see different puppets, puppet shows happen with explanation of stories, which is very well arranged! Dhaatu is non profit organization, which is an asset to India, especially Bangalore people,-they help to retain our culture, art and retain talents which are gifted by our ancestors!

Dhathu is located in Banashankari 2 stage. Come Dusshera, and this little house just bursts with colour and festivity. They have their Annual Doll house show and people from all over come to get a glimpse of their 2000 to 3000 dolls arranged based on various Ramayana and Mahabharata themes. It's a once in a lifetime experience.

Dhaatu is making an outstanding effort to reinvigorate the heritage puppetry art in India. They host a grand navaratri doll exhibition every year, please don't miss it. They also selflessly conduct a puppet festival in Bangalore every January, where puppeteers from across India and also from outside come to perform their traditional puppet art forms for 3 full days. One must take their kids to have them get a flavour of our culture and how puppetry had been an integral part of the society.

Excellent collection of dolls for golu. Saw hundreds of dolls depicting each chapter or scene of popular epics- Ramayana, Mahabharata etc. Loved the way guests were guided as well. Truly worth spending an hour to rekindle the creativity and some spirituality in one.

Land of toys, you can find many mythological, historical and modern age stories told by toys. During Navarthri festival the toys are arranged in such a way to depict many Mahabharata and Ramayana stories. Good place for kids to see and learn our heritage. I highly recommend a must visit to this place.
