Fun trip to take and explore by yourself! You take a ferry from Gateway of India and it is a bit of a boat ride to the island. I went it December it was HOT! Dress for warmth and hiking up lots of stairs! Instead of waiting and paying for the train to take you further into the island, we just walked.. it’s nice scenery. There are women who coerce you, dressed in local garb, to pay for pictures with them but just politely say no. The walk up the stairs gets REALLY HOT so make sure to take a fan and water with you. Lots of fun monkeys around too so be careful with food and your belongings. Worth going on your own, just research beforehand to get an idea of what you’re looking at or join a tour group! It was wonderful to be in the same place as ancient and one of the oldest Ganesha! Worth going to and highly recommend it.

An incredible site for history buffs and travelers who are into the heritage and the old world feel. There's plenty of eateries and shopping stalls around for you to take back things as a memoir. The 45-minute boat ride is also a quintessential part of this amazing experience.

He gave this name because of the elephant (elephant) statue carved in the stone here. There are idols of many gods and goddesses of Hinduism.

This is an amazing place to visit. Elephanta Caves is about one hour from Gateway of India by Ferry Service. Sea gulls accompany you on the way. Once you reach there you can take a short distance train ride to the base. You get chance to enjoy sea ride, sunset. Elephanta Caves are a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a collection of cave temples predominantly dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva.

You have to take a ferry to reach elphanta cave island, the trip was cozy and it take roughly 1 hr. The place is incredibly well sculptured even the destruction evidences still there from previous ages. It's advisable to some guide to tell you some stories about the place the myths, that could be amusing after all. Funny stuff, there English ships to protect the place from any possible attack!

The place is very famous among the tourists. It is approx one hour water boat journey from Gateway of India. If you want to visit Elephanta Caves, you must be energetic because you will have to climb very high. To visit Elephanta Caves you will have to buy a boat ticket from Gateway of India. After reaching Elephanta Caves you have 2 options. First is you can buy a toy train ticket second is you can walk for one kilometer. To visit Caves you will have to climb very high. In Caves now the stutues are broken. After watching broken statues you will feel that it should not be done.
