This GTS tower was built by British rulers of Kolkata to draw a map of Kolkata and conduct a survey about roads and lands. These two Great Trigonometric Tower (GTS) is 75 feet height large brick built minar has been erected on 1831 CE. Surveyor and geographer George Everest leaded the trigonometric survey. One is near Sukhchar of North 24 parganas and other is near Boroline house of North Kolkata. Both are in B.T. Road.
One of the last monuments built by the British.
