Today's visit was to the MAIN CANTEEN at the Naval Base, Cochin. Location \u003e\u003e\u003e just inside the Main Entrance to the base (at a walkable distance). The visit was a result of renovations going on at Oyster Bay, which is the canteen setup within the officer's complex. The main canteen is a shopper's delight. It is well stocked with every thing that one would hunt for at a routine department store on civvy street. The main section, referred to as the Grocery Section has every thing that one could routinely want for one's home. More importantly, for every category of item, one can find SEVERAL different selections. This section is vast and runs in several rooms with a total floor-area that could vie with one of the bigger department-stores in town. The floor-area is immense. This is on the ground floor of the building. Space has been utilized judiciously . Near the entrance, one can find a TV, mobile phone, washing-machine shop, and can book a refrigerator. On the first floor is the "costly items' section. This includes, music systems of all kind (incl for one's car), water-heaters, water-purifiers and a vast array of electrical goods. Further down, on the same floor, is the 'Hosiery Section'. Here you can pick up under-garments, T-shirts, ladies-wear, socks, kerchiefs, ties, belts and even shoes of all brands and types. Outside this Main Complex, which also houses the office of the Regional Manager, one can hit the 'Liquor Section'. All brands of rums, whiskeys, gins, vodkas, beers including some Indian Made foriegn brands like Scotch are available as per one's quota. All payments are on debit/credit cards and entry into the complex is only if one has a Canteen Card. All in all, a real treat shopping at this canteen.

No unauthorised enrty. Defence personnells and ex-service men are able to enter showing their I'd cards. But civilians are required to take a pass from the entry gate for entering to the naval base.
It's a good place to buy daily usage thing at reduced price. It's a place that is following COVID-19 norms at strict adherence. It's a good place altogether to buy things and that too orderly.
For purchase of products at reduced prices. The shopping is convenient and you can find most items here, even the costly items like television, fridge etc.
Very good standard keeping shop and very good behavior of staff.
Excellent canteen......the best I have seen.....however lot of items from the Civil market have also been displayed so be aware of what your purchasing
Very busy place. If you have plenty of time and patience then only visit. In the groceries section collect the things in one go, you cant return to the same place again.
