Usually I book my reservations from this counter. All the booking staffs are polite, helpful and understanding and tickets are booked in few minutes. There is no need to wait in long queue for ticket due to quick response. There is two counter for reservation and three counter for the unreserved tickets of local trains. One can reserve train ticket for all the station through out India. They are now upgrading the system for more convenient of passengers like making new foot over bridges, expanding the station area etc.

The Kolkata Suburban Railway is part of the second passenger railway constructed in British India during the mid 19th century. The first train ran between Howrah and Hooghly stations. A hundred years after the initial run, Electric Multiple Unit (EMU) services began. It is the largest suburban railway network in India by track length and the number of stations with 458 stations and a track length of 1,501 km (933 mi). The system is operated by two zones of Indian Railways; the Eastern Railway zone and the South Eastern Railway zone. These zones are further divided into the Howrah and Sealdah divisions for the Eastern Railway and the Kharagpur division for the South Eastern Railway. Howrah, Sealdah and Kolkata railway stations are the three major terminals serving the network in the city.

Very busy station, ticket counter is big in size but only 1 or 2 counter remains open so when there are lots of people who have to make tickets it becomes a long time... Also automatic computerized ticketing system is available.

Very busy place. No wheelchair accessible entrance or toilet facilities or no drinking water facilities. Rail police and TT activities are too much. No ATM facilities available. The escalator facilities doesn't work always. The engineering thoughts are very much faulty. The best example is the staircase of platform no 3&4 is situated outward of the platform.
