Amitava Purakayastha

Located on both side of the road, these impressive colonial structures were initially constructed as stables for housing horses used by British Administrators. The year of construction, that is 1908 AD is embossed on the top. The insignia of horses can still be seen in the buildings. The staircase of the building was strategically kept on the outer portion so that people could avoid stamping on horse droppings before entering the office premise. At present, the location is used as Government office and residential quarter of staffs. Thankfully, these buildings are well maintained.
