From this ghat the view of Howrah Bridge in the evening is Mesmerizing. But the locals here don't keep it clean. They bath, wash their clothes and utensils, throw their garbage at the ghats which makes it really horrible. Also the bad smell due to garbage is very bad.
One of the best viewpoint of howrah bridge
Awesome place but kept very dirty
The Jagannath Ghat, located on the eastern bank of the river Hooghly (Ganges) is one of the most popular ghats in North Kolkata, especially notable for the immersion of deities during the festive season, such as - Durga Puja, Kali Puja or Jagaddhatri Puja. This place is very much favorite for the photography lovers as well.
ASIA'S LARGEST FLOWER MARKET IN JAGANNATH GHAT.
Jagannanth Ghat is located on the eastern bank of River Hoogly, just to the north of Howrah Bridge. It was beautifully constructed in classical European style by Shobharam Basak, the famous trader and merchant, who became a millionaire by supplying textiles to the East India Company. In all probabilities, Jagannath Ghat, with a drum-shaped crown on its top, was constructed around 1760s. Though initially it was known as Shobharam Basak’s Ghat, the name was changed to Jagannath Ghat, probably due to the presence of the adjacent Jajannath Temple, which was also constructed by Shobharam himself. The edifice of Jagannath Ghat remained intact till the 1940s, but since then, it has been lost forever in the wide wilderness. It was either destroyed for unknown reasons or replaced.
