War Memorial at Kadri Hills was dedicated to the nation in 1992, by the then Governor Khurshed Alam Khan. Surrounded with lush greenery, this memorial has a single stone obelisk in the centre, with an inscription that reads: “To the memory of all ranks of the armed forces from Dakshina Kannada District who gallantly laid down their lives in defence of their motherland”. The memorial is owned by Mangalore City Corporation but maintained by Canara Workshops Ltd. Here every year on Kargil Vijay Diwas & Vijay Diwas, people pay respect to the martyred soldiers. Vijay Diwas observed on Dec 16, commemorates India's historic win in the Indo-Pak War of 1971. It remembers the martyrs who laid down their lives in the Bangladesh Liberation war. Kargil Vijay Diwas observed on 26 July, marks India’s victory over Pakistan in the Kargil conflict in 1999.

Services for Trade licences have become very transparent and good, but the process has become very slow.
