The remarks are not against the staff...The student visa formalities appeared in website are not clear and updated...nobody actually cares for its effect and troubles for applicants.Spain doesn't allow visa for studies for more than 90 days...one has to get it extended at local immigration office after reaching there..everywhere you have to wait for date..and many hazards....Generally speaking Spain is not a good option for students to move in , and one cannot imagine the idea of future stay and settlement.when compared to US ,UK,Canada etc...

My experience with the Spanish Consulate for Student Visa was very satisfactory. Reading the negative reviews made me anxious but the procedure should be smooth if you follow list they've mentioned additional supporting documentation wherever necessary. Carry supporting documents for your primary ones wherever applicable. Translation from English to Spanish not required. Staff is efficient with their job and to the point. You'll probably have to visit the consulate more than once to get application submitted.

I don't know about others but my experience was a mixed one. Staff at the consulate general office were very helpful. They are a bit strict on the documents and proof. This may take more than one visit to complete all the formalities. They tell you want to bring and mostly no refusal of Visa. This is an office which is easily approachable and if there is an urgency you can explain and they will oblige. Please do not get discouraged by the negative comments because every case is different. Please provide proper documental proof for the economic support and reason for the visit then the proceed is a breeze. You don't have to speak Spanish or cantalon just English is sufficient.

I was surprised to read the negative reviews here before I visited the Spain consulate in Mumbai. But my experience was quite good with this consulate. Please note that the visa officers are quite strict and professional - they are very particular about the documentation that you provide and answer them, so please visit it with right documentation and you will have the visa. Also, note that the information provided in website seemed to be not updated. So, you may better call them before visiting or take the help of immigration specialists. Note that there is no concept of registered post for passport collection - you will either have to be personally present at the Consulate or delegate it to anyone to collect your passport with authorization.

Don't be scared by all the negative reviews. I applied and got my Student Visa in 15 days. The requirements list on the website is outdated. The tone of the ladies sitting at the counter can be better at times but they are just doing their job. No need to translate documents in English to Spanish. Be prepared to go there twice because you will miss some document in the first try.
