The Portuguese built a fort at Pallipuram as a watchtower in 1503. It is the oldest existing European fort in India. At the same time, the Portuguese built a church for the believers of the surrounding area and dedicated it to Our Lady. It was the church at that time where Christians in that area gathered together for worship

Really a good place, awesome scenaries back waters are stunning..! We really enjoyed the place and it's beauty..! Only drawback is its inside a street so access is little difficult and for food you need to go little far from the church..!

The Basilica of Our Lady of Snows is a very popular church that is part of the Roman (Latin) Catholic Diocese of Kottapuram. The Church is ancient, and is known for the miracle that occured when the Virgin Mary protected the village from the wrath of Tipu Sultan by turning his surroundings into "snow." The Old Church is currently used as the cemetery, while the Holy Icon of the Blessed Virgin Mary is now kept in the main Church and the Chapel.
