Although a very beautiful site with elaborate architecture, this has not been maintained. It has the potential to be a major tourist attraction with good maintenance and opening up of some of the buildings for visitors. Also needed is a proper written or audio guide to make it an engaging experience for visitors. A boat ride and photo opportunity from the river will add to the charm.

Ramnagar fort is one of the main tourist destinations in Varanasi. It is the site of historical importance. Yes, it is true that this building needs a lot of preservation, still you can't miss visiting this place. Different designs of royal palanquins, coins, utensils, armours are displayed here. As you enter , you can see a big courtyard, where two big cannons are installed. If you look minutely, the intricate designs on doors are worth to appreciate art of by gone era. It is the two story fort.

The entry fee of this fort is Rs. 75 but sorry to say maintenance is very poor . That's why am giving it a 4 star , otherwise this place is nice to roam . The museum showcases various things like weapons, dresses , cars, etc. But all are in very poor condition . The best part of this fort is the view of Ganga and the bridge from the Mandir side . The sunset is a treat to watch . Do visit this place whenever visiting Varanasi . Thisfort closes around 5:30 . Try to reach the fort around 4-4:30 to enjoy the sunset . Temperature check is done at the entrance as a covid precautionary measure. Do have the lassi there as it serves the best lassi in town .

A beautiful fort worth going once. There's not much to explore as most parts of the fort are not open for public. But all in all its a beautiful property to visit once. The fort museum will surely give you the feel of the era the fort was in its prime. You can see cars, weapons, clothes and hunted animal all in their original condition. Take few pictures against the cannons placed in the ground. The whole experience can be done in 90min. Add 30 extra for pictures
