It's a level crossing on the road connecting the town of Puri with Konark. A rail over bridge is being planned over this crossing to make seamless, unhindered flow of traffic possible. There has been some controversy regarding the compensation for acquisition of land needed for the flyover. Many aspects of the matter are not clear to the public.

The only railway level crossing in puri-konark marine drive approach road. Keeping an eye on the importance of the national highway ( NH-203E ) and The No. Of originating/terminating trains ( 52 No.s ) from/at puri railway station , the level crossing became an headache for the road users. And the narrow roads taking too much time to clear the traffic every time after opening the railway Gate. During rath-yatra and other festive seasons, the vast traffic reaches to it's maximum which leads to a steady traffic flow and undesirable rush. The mostly affecteds are the locals, they spend too much time to cross the road in a daily basis. And the increased tracks may enhancing the rail efficiency but , disappointing the road users. There's a Government proposal for a flyover to counteract those issues, which still in preliminary stage.

The proposed over bridge is must necessary bcz all locals including ambulance service and huge crowd detained for a long time due to level crossing

Place is good for all but everybody will feel bad at the time of gate close of the railway gate,it takes more time to open so everyone feel bore at that time, it will be give pleasure after the overbridge.
