The Third Dimension Aeromodelling Club is rated 3 out of 5 in the category aviation & aerospace. Read and write reviews about The Third Dimension Aeromodelling Club. The Third dimension is the aeromodelling club of NITT and primarily deals with, as the name goes, motion in the Third dimension-the principles of defying gravity and achieving flight. We are a group of aviation and aerospace enthusiasts who model electrically propelled airplanes, drones and hovercrafts. The “Glider Team” of the club is responsible for rolling out a fixed-wing-aircraft each time according to the requirements of different aeromodelling competitions held pan-India by premier institutes like IIT Madras, NIT Calicut, VIT Vellore etc. It also takes part in the Aero Design Challenge every year conducted by the prestigious Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE). We also focus on drone design, path planning and communications in enhancing the spectrum of drone applications to solving problems in real life. The “Tronix team” of the club actively engages in contests that involve path planning, image-processing and other miscellaneous applications of electronics and coding to make aerial vehicles smarter. In addition to flight we also take up projects that involve applications of aerodynamics and allied concepts (like flight and fluid mechanics) to solve real world problems that span domains of defense, renewable energy and surveillance.
