An old boat ferry for transportation of people and vehicles. A lot of very fond memories of traveling in the ferry to and fro from Vaikom to Cherthala and back. An overflow of emotions that has to be experienced only by traveling in the ferry. It is truly mesmerizing. The very first trip is always special and consecutive trips only add to those emotions. Vaikom Boat Jetty now has a solar powered ferry for environmentally friendly travel as well. Parking space is less and only useful for two-wheeled vehicles. Most people come by bus or auto rickshaw and further commute by ferry or jhangara as it is fondly called.
