A beautiful place! Like a piece of heaven on earth...Calm, serene with wind blowing and sunshine filtering through tall dense trees...Palatial grounds... Marvellous architecture, a place seeped in history of Pre Independence India , a place where you'd need a well informed guide to take you to the tour of all the events that gave taken place there. A building which has much value from architectural and historical point of view. The surrounding gardens are magnificent and the serpentine road adds to the charm. There's a souvenir shop too.

Useless trip. Parking is pretty far away. Entrance fee is way high for seeing three rooms with photographs. Major part of the lodge is not shown. Waste of time. It is like visiting the Reception of Indian Institute of Advanced Studies

The Rashtrapati niwas formerly known as Viceregal Lodge, is located on the Observatory Hills of Shimla. It was formerly the residence of the British Viceroy of India. It houses some of the most ancient articles and photographs going back to the times of the Colonial era, established in 1888. It is about 4 km from tourism lift and it is easily reachable by bike, car or taxi. its structure is very beautiful. It is an ols building and well maintained. There is an entry ticket (pic attached) separated for seeing museum and just visiting outside the museum. I personally dont like museum so just visited the outside area. there is a big lawn but i dont know why they dont allow you to sit or walk on it even a step . visited today on 26.02.2021

beautiful views from the gardens of this building . You only can only visit a few of the rooms as it is a working place of study. Peaceful stunning location . Small café in the old fire station is worth a visit - some great old photos on its walls.

A Museum made from artifacts of British time. Photography is strictly prohibited inside and is very beautiful. A must go to place if you're visiting Shimla.
