The Jallianwala Bagh massacre took place in pre-Independence India on 13 April, 1919, when the acting Brigadier-General Reginald Dyer ordered British troops to open fire on unarmed Indian civilians. This led to widespread bloodshed, and resulted in the death of 379 innocent Indians and over 1,000 injuries. The casualty number which was reported by the Indian National Congress at the time was at least 1,000 killed and over 1,500 injured.

Must go to see this beautiful place. Bullet marks are still there since 1919. Must visit there to remember our freedom fighters history...

One of the major sites of the Indian struggle for Independence, the Jallianwala Bagh is a monument of National importance. It was here that the British officials opened fire on a rather peaceful Indian crowd including women and children. The garden is spread across an area of 6.5 acres and still contains several bullet marks left by the British.

Simply Excellent. I loved the big market & how calm it is. It was very busy yet so calm enjoyed every moment of it. Shopped like a shopaholic. The beautiful place would love to visit again.

Jallianwala Bagh is a place which generates patriotic feelings in each Indian. It reminds us of the British atrocities of pre-independence era. Walls with bullet marks and the well which turned red with blood at that time is nicely preserved. The memorial is also well made with a 'Amar Jyoti' in remembrance of all those who lost there life here. The beautification and renovation of the area around Golden Temple and Jallianwala Wala Bagh deserves big claps.
