Nal Sarovar is a large and unique wetland located near Rethal village near Sanand City of Ahmedabad, Gujarat.. Its uniqueness chiefly lies in a high diversity of habits it harbors. This include the marshes, reed-beds, areas with floating and submerged vegetation, shallow and deep open water habitats, muddy shores and islets. Nal Sarovar has nearly 300 islets of which 36 are larger than the rest. Some of these are dhrabla bet, sur bet, limsi bet,lhasa bet, shiyal bet and chera bet. The 12,000 hectare Nal Lake connected to district, Ahmedabad and Surendranagar. Why is it more rewarding to visit Nal Sarovar during the winter? Simple as monsoon gives way to winter, migratory birds start flocking Nal Sarovar. By mid-winter this exodus takes the waterfowl number to over 2, 00,000 – the highest for any wetland of Gujarat.

Lovely place to visit, best place for photoshoot. Variety of birds can be found here. Best time to visit is early in the morning. I advice to reach there around sunrise timing. Very peaceful place and pleasant atmosphere. Water is not so deep, people having fear from water can also travel it easily.

Nal Sarovar is a heaven on earth for birds, bird watchers and nature lovers. Located near Ahmedabad, it hosts nesting place for birds all over the world. A magnificent place to visit with family. It offers a boat ride for 2 hours in probably one of the best waters of Gujarat. The best time to visit is early morning. The beauty of this place is simply incomparable. If you are a bird lover then this place should be on the list of your must visit places. There's a small village near the sanctuary named "Vadlaa". Bird watcher can find a great flock of birds in the dam of the village.
